Sick AND Frustrated all in the same day!

I really want to know how in the heck a guy can get his User Stats to display in his profile!!!
Some Bloggers have it and some don't. I have researched high and low at here at the BLOG and not found anything. I mean, all I friggin want is to be able to see how many posts I have done and how many words I have typed. Is that too much to ask??

If any of my 6 readers I have know how to change this I sure would like to know. (The one I am talking about is the one that appears on the left hand side under the Picture and Edit Profile button within Blogger profile.

Sickness and DVDs

About the only thing I can do right now is watch stuff on the tube. Thank God for my Huge DVD collection. I took the opportunity, today, to watch a loaner: O Brother Where Art Thou and one from my collection that I have not yet seen Luther .

I enjoyed both, as much as I could, being sick. O Brother Where Art Thou was cute, funny, and a great escape from my misery. Luther was..... Well, let me start out by saying that I am a "Cradle Lutheran" (Meaning, I have been a Lutheran since I was in the cradle.) Both of my parents worked for the church for many years, and I even graduated from a Lutheran School. I am going to get much different things out of this film, than say the average, non-Lutheran movie goer.

That said, I will say that as far as movies go it was great! It was historically and doctrinally correct to my eye. (As well it should be since the Lutheran Church paid to have it produced.) The cast was superb!, and it kept my interest, even though I knew the story. I highly recommend it to Lutherans who have yet to see it, and to non-Lutherans and non-Christians. NO there is not an altar call at the end, nor did the Lutheran Church mean to use it as a recruiting film. Heaven forbid a Lutheran ever be caught evangelizing, they don't call us the frozen chosen for nothing. ( If you aren't Lutheran you won't get it.)

Well folks, that's about all the time we have for today. Tune in tomorrow, to find out what the Incurable Savant found out at the Doctor's office. (I certainly hope this is one time in my life that I am curable.)

Kids at School & Back to Bed

I just dropped off the kids at school, what a challenge. No I am back at home, and soon to be in bed again. Then call the doctor at 9 am. I hope she will call something in for me without me having to see her.

Update:

No such luck. I have go in tomorrow and see her. My boss is going to love that.

I feel like dried up dog poop in the back yard

Still have this nasty flu. Was up most of the night hacking in the chair. Unless something changes drastically I will not be going to work in the morning. Right now I have all I can do to type, much less walk, or sit up for longer than 15 minutes at a time.

The Yellow Pages Bitch

Today, while waiting in a very long line at the gas station trying to releave my Coke addiction. (The brown stuff, not the white stuff.) I woman came in talking on her cell, via an earbud. She stood at the counter talking to someone, then all of a sudden walked onto the platform grabbed the yellow pages and took it to the counter where she had been standing. Interupting the only Cashier, she yells, "Hey, If I want to find U-Haul do I look under Movers?" I said yes to spare the cashier. As I replied, I looked in her direction only to see her ripping the entire Moving section out of the book.

It took every fiber of my being not to call her a Bitch. I am a gentleman, you know. Frankly, it wouldn't have done any good. She just would have called me a few names and walked out to her car with the torn section anyway.

I do believe hers were far bigger and heavier than mine will ever be. I just can't beleive some people.

The Good & Bad Parts of Finishing a Book

I FINISHED Night Fall!!!! Woot Woot.

The good part is having a feelings of accomplishment, pleasure because it was a great read, and yearning for the author's next book. The bad part is having to decide which book from my "Unread Stack" to read next, UGH! And knowing that it will be at least 3 years before we see another book out of Nelson DeMille.

DVD Addiction - Bin Diving

Last night my son and I hit the $5.50 DVD bin at Walmart. The secret to bin diving, I have discovered, is to dig past the first third of the DVDs. Most people will only dig that far for several reasons. 1. Time 2. They are not an addict like I am. 3. Since I am 6'4" I am tall enough to dig farther down in the bin.

By doing this you get a pick of what was originally in the bin, but picked over quickly. I was able to find 10 more Popular DVDs all for $5.50. Titles like Jerry McGuire, About a Boy, The Client, Catch Me If You Can, Sister Act, just to name a few.

Let me remind you of the first reason most people don't dive, TIME. I spent about 45 minutes submerged in the depths of the DVD bin, coming up for air every so often. However, I look at it this way, I saved between $80-$100, by doing so. My motto is, Never pay full price unless it is unavoidable. Because of this I rarely pay full price for anything.

A dual effort, I did all the "Gay" Stuff, and my friend did all the HTML

I am so hyped about my new look!!!! It is EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED.

My friend and I worked together. I did all the "Gay" Stuff, like a decorator would. You know imparting your vision on the masses, and allowing them to figure out how to make it work. I must say, I was actually not that much of a cad. I just don't yet know enough HTML.

I think someone once said, "The products of a group effort exponentially exceed the sum of what each of them could have done on their own."

That said, I am deeply indebted to my friend. For with out them none of this would have been possible. There does that sound like an "Oscar" acceptance speech? If it does, I don't mean it that way. I am truly grateful for what my friend has done.

Update!

Getting sicker by the hour. Now everything hurts, eyeballs, hair, fingernails. I LOVE THE FLU!

In other news...

After a one hour lunch and one bathroom break, I only have 14 more pages!!!!

I will have to finish tomorrow. I doubt I'll be able to read anymore today.

Still Reading....48 pages to go

A boy and his cars are not easily parted. I spent to much time drooling at Buicks last night to finish the book..... Probably the only thing I love more than books are cars.

Transportation Dilemma

If money were no object!

But since it is...

We now have two sides. What I want, and what I really would like because I need it.

Fact of the matter is that I really want one of what I need, it would just be nice to be able to get what I want, however, impractical it is for a full time single dad with two kids. I just see myself getting really pissed at having to have them crawl into the back seat all the time. They tend to piddle anyway, so adding the issue of a coupe/fastback would only amplify things greatly.

Furthermore, I had a 1992 Lesabre that I LOVED DEARLY. I bought it new and drove it until December of 2003 @ 150k, when my parents gave me my Mom's Car, and bought a new one for themselves. It now is very close to hitting the 100k mark, and things are starting to go wrong. This car was intended to get me by until I could get a new one, which it has and I am truly grateful for the gift.

What brought all of this to light was the fact that the folks who live next door just bought a new Lesabre, and it reminded me just how much I really missed my old one. It was the best car I ever owned. It was the sexist car I ever owned. Yeah folks even Buicks can be sexy.

When we first bought it we turned heads all over town. It was a color called deep cherry. It depended on what light you were in as to what color it looked like. It went from Jet Black, to Dark Cherry/Mahogany, and in some light it even looked to be a Deep Amethyst. The interior was the exact same color. As we drove you could see people trying to figure out what color it was. Even the sales man said when we came to pick it up. "This is a new color this year, and this is the first time I have seen it all shined up. The manager is looking for another one on the lot to shine up and put in the showroom because he is sure he will sell more that way." I can smell a slimy salesman a mile away. From the look on his face I would say he was sincere. Frankly, only a true car nut like me can recognizing the look he was giving that car. ( The same one, I and every other guy in the place was, LOL.) Yes ladies, there are two things in this world that men will act totally stupid for. 1. The woman he loves & 2. A Car. In that order of course, we have our priorities you know.

I Hate It When This Happens.

It is now 12:33am, I have 72 pages left, and I desperately want to finish this book tonight. However, tomorrow is not Saturday, and I was darn near late to work this morning. Furthermore, my employees, I am certain would not be able to handle another day on the crust-o-meter. I know I couldn't.

Maybe I need to give up Mystery/Suspence novels, and try something that is easier to put down. NOPE, NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! At least not anytime before the second comming.

Law & Order Night, reasons for short posts, and Fröliche Gebortstag!

For the first time in who knows how long, I was able to watch my all-time-favorite TV show, Law & Order . Too cool for words!

In other news, I will not be posting anymore tonight beacause I am trying to finish Nelson DeMille's latest book Night Fall. I normally read just on my lunch break, but this book is particularly good, as well as, being very suspenceful. I am off to read untill the wee hours, I am sure.

Finally, I would like to wish a very special person....

Ein Sehr Fröliche Erste Gebortstag! ( A Very Happy 1st Birthday ) to Insanity-Infusion's Sehr Speziell Kinder. (aVery Special Child)

Oben begleißen, Unter beschißen heute morgan!

Its and old German saying "Shinny on the outside and $h!++y on the inside." Meaning you sruced yourself up without showering.

Today, because I had been up half the night again. I didn't wake up until 7:10am. For those of you who don't know my a.m. schedule, that is exactly 10 minutes before my children and I should be walking out the door for school.

Don't ask me how I did it, cause if you do, I won't be able to tell you, but I did make it to work on time. Getting ready involved a little roll on and a lot of Clear Water!, and a little bit of toothpaste. The end result is I made it to work but I am still crusty. YUCKY!

Happy Birthday

Great News

I will be Gallaryized!!!!! My memorial art has been approved for hanging. It will hang opposite the church's library entrance, above the water cooler. (The same cooler my kids get a drink at almost every Sunday!! What a Hoot!) It also seems quite fitting, since their mother was a teacher, who loved to read.

I now have to get the thing matted and framed, and buy a memorial plaque to go with it. While I am at it, I will have a copy framed for a memorial at Solace House: A center for grieving children and their families .

Eye Candy!

Today's eye candy is brought to you by Maxfield Parish. (one of my favorites) Each of his pictures has a hidden nekkid lady in it. Can you find this one? Posted by Hello

A Puzzling Thing

Completed by my puzzling 10 year old daughter. She is a puzzle hound. I have witness many times her walking up to the table, pick up a piece, and fit it in. All in a matter of about 10 seconds. When she was a toddler, she used to put puzzles together upsidedown. But hey, That's Ma Girl! Posted by Hello

3 Large

I have said it many times before, and I will say it again. Its a disease I tell you!!!! I actually took a picture of the Target Store for the express purpose of using it in my blog. UHG! Anyway, I go in to pick up a few things, in addition to our monthly supply of meds. When I checked out at the pharmacy counter, I did a really good job at shooting a big gaping hole in 3 bills. I commented that I had done quite a bit of damage, with a groan. The pharmacy guy says, "The depressing part is it all fit in one small bag." Gee thanks, that helps alot. I feel all better now. A Boy & His Nuts

Tonight, I and my kids were on our way to a Blue and Gold Dinner, to honor the parents and leaders in my son's scout troop. As we traveled, my son starts making irritating noises in the back seat. When it comes to making noise my 7 year old son is like McGyver, you know the guy that can take a watch spring, a marble, and a tampon, and make a bomb, all in the nick of time to save himself from some awful disaster or another. Well anyway, I said to my son in the back seat, "Insert son's name here, please stop making noise, your making Daddy crazy." To which he replied, "Geeze Dad, you won't even let a guy play with his nutz!"

{Please let me interject, I hope my nuts never ever make that kind of noise!}

I must admit, it took me a second or two until I was able to speak without laughing my ass off. As I turned I saw him fiddling with two small pine cones, which he was rolling around in the handle of the rear arm rest. I said to him, "Insert son's name here, those aren't nuts (as I choked down another laugh) they are pine cones, and PLEASE STOP MAKING THAT NOISE WITH THEM!"

Does Anybody Know......

If there is a blog server thingie that has more restrictions on it? I am looking for someplace to build a cub scout blog for my son's troop. But I don't want the little tykes to hit next blog and get a free peep show like I did one day AT WORK! Boobies all over my monitor.

My guess is that there is no such place, but I just thought I would ask.

As promised.........

Boy this sure is a tough room! Nobody even said it stunk!

Ok, I need to give some background before I start telling the Olie and Lena joke I promised you in yesterday's blog.

First of all, I grew up in Michigan, and my Mother grew up in Minnesota, which means that I never had a chance when it came to talking like a Swede. I am 150% German, and 20 years ago I had a very thick "Northern Accent." It may be somewhat hard to convay in a blog but I will do my best. Your part in all of this is to think of the accents you heard in the movie FARGO. Everywhere you see an "o" pronounce it as a long "o".

All right den, Olie and Lena are two olt Svedes, ant each vone is dumber dan dee udder. Olie's best friend in the vorld is Sven. As in dis story, Sven pops up from time to time in Olie and Lena jokes. Ifa guy vas to discribe Sven, yoose might say dat if he came from a new resturant, and yoose ask him how it vas, he vood probbibly say, "Ya'know dey got great salt in der!" Not exactly, the sharpest knife in da drawer.

Anywaaaay, Vone day Olie vas at da pub, ven Sven came up to him and sez, "Hey Olie, houws come yur so down in da mout?"

"Vell, Sven I godda tell ya, my outhouse is full. Which means I can eeder dig a new whole, and take da dirt from da new whole and fill da olt vone, or I can empty out da old vone, needer af vich I vant to do, especially not da last vone."

"Oh, Olie!, You don' godda do dat! Let me tell ya vat ta do. First, ya get a long rope. Den you getcha 2 sticks ah dynomite, vone vit a short vick, ant vone vit a long vick. Ya tie da vone vit da long vick at da bottom, and da vone vit da short vick in the middle. Den ya light'em bote, and ya trow'em down da hole."

"First the short vick gosse aff, ant da outhouse gosse straaaight up in da air. Den da long vick gosse aff and da contents ov da hole gosse all ofer da grass, and fertilizes yur lawn. Ya don' godda touch a ting." he sez.

Olie replied, "Sven, Datsa greAt idea. I'm gowen to da hardvare store, meet me at my house, tomorrow levenclock."

"You betcha," Sven sez.

The one thing you all need to know about old scandinavian guys is, when there is work to be done, they all have to walk around, scratch their asses, and drink a few beers, so they can figure out the easiest way to do it, with the least amount of work. Thus taking them far longer to do it in the first place. I am here to tell you that Olie and Sven, are the rule rather than the exception in this case.

Olie had bought all he needed the day before, so when Sven arrived they were ready to go, that is of course, not until the aforementioned walking around, ass scratching, and beer drinking had taken place. Meanwhile Olie's wife, Lena, had been in the kitchen making lunch......

Now dey got effryting ready, dey tie the tnt to da rope, dey light'em bote, an dey trow'em down da hole. Den dey ran, lettin out da rope as dey vent. Dey headed for da big vite rocks Olie had at da end ov hiss Drifevay. (That is another MN thing I will have to tell you about another time.) Ass dey crouch behind da rock, ant look toreds da outhouse, Lena comes boltin out da kitchen, headin fur da outhouse!

Olie jumps up and down, wavin hiss arms, shoutin, " LENA LENA, Don' go in der!" Sadly, Lena doesn't listen. She gosse into da outhouse ant slams da door. Olie sits behind da rock ant starts cryin' cas he nose hiss Lena iss det.

BOOOM! da outhouse gosse shtraight up in da air. BOOOOOOM! Shit flies effrywhere, on Olie, on Sven, on da side a da house. Da whole time Olie is sittin' der behind dat rock. Vell, ass da outhouse comes down, Olie gets a grip on hiss self, and turns. The outhouse drops down on da ground, da door svings open ant Lena vaks out! (She is all burnt on da eches like Yosemmity Sam) She stagers somewhat, focuses her ise a lil'bit, ant den she looks at Olie, and sez......

"Oh, Olie, I'm so glat I din' let dat vone in da kitchen."

Elmo, Spiderman, and HO HO

During the winter months I have very dry skin. This morning as I was tying my shoes the skin my left thumb cracked and started to bleed. I went to the bathroom in search of a Band-Aid. Evidently, we have run out of regular ones, so I got to choose from Elmo and Spiderman Band-Aids. I decided that I would get less crap at work if I chose Spiderman, so it was Spidy to the rescue.

Of course, my seven year old noticed right away, and was bent because Daddy was using up his Spiderman Band-Aids. Sheesh!

As any other morning we were rushed because I have two dawdlers. They swear they are going as fast as they can, but in reality they are just being kids and diddling. After asking my seven year old twelve hundred and seventy two times to put his coat on, I finally did it for him. When I did, he said, "Daddy, you smell like you put something on." (with an eewwwwe sort of tone) I said, "I did." He replied, "What is it?" I say, "Polo" He then asks, "Ho Ho?" To which I respond, with a giggle, "No POLO!" Then he laughs and says, " HA HA, HO HO!"

Just what was he trying to tell me? I don't think I had enough on to say that I smelled like a French Whore. Oh Well............

Anyway, HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!

GASP!!!

According to insanity-infusion , "It has been two days since you have blogged. gasp!" To be frank, and that's not my name either, I haven't been in a bloggy sort of mood lately. Which actually has me quite perplexed. You see I have been hooked, HOOKED I TELL YOU, since the moment I created this silly thing last November. Since then, I think about blogging constantly. I find myself thinking, "Gee, I need to blog about this." or "I sure would like to blog about that, but I can't because it is about work, ect." I have even found myself, as I float off to sleep, thinking, "Oh, man I forgot to blog abo.....zzzzzZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzzz"

The first thing that comes to mind is that I normally try to dash off a quick one right after I get to work, but I had an employee go on a short term personal leave, so I am covering his job, and trying not to get behind on my own. Secondly, my evenings, over the last couple of weeks seem to be running together rapidly. Not to mention the fact that I have been sick. While I feel much better, I don't think I really got over it, so I have been kind of draggy as of late. (THAT DOES NOT MEAN I WEAR DRESSES AND HEELS EITHER.)

Thankfully, I was gently reminded by insanity-infusion to once again sit at the keyboard and clack until a blog appears on my site. Unfortunately, something happened at work today that I am bursting at the seams to tell you about. However, it is the kind of thing that would have me dooced in a heart beat, if I let it slip. In the past I have used Q&A thingies, but didn't want to whimp out this time.

The one thing that has had me scratching since I read it, is that insanity-infusion is thrilled to death that is has been ages since she stopped using cling wrap, all because of Costco. Does that mean she serves science experiment food to her husban and child? Does it mean her sex life is no longer as exciting as it once was? Does that mean that, well just what does that mean, and why is Costco responsible?

It just occured to me that I have yet to tell you one of my many Ole and Lena Jokes! But Cripes, its darn near midnight don'tchaknow. So I'll have to tell you tomorrow. BTW, I can only type the G rated ones....

Good night for now, spell check be damned! I am so sleepy I am jiggling my right leg to stay away long enough to finish this post...... BIG YAWN!

First Date Images

As I stood outside the resturant my eye caught this from about 20 yards away. My face changed, and my date said, "Its a hanger, I noticed it too." At a quick glance I had to do a double take. Then, picture phone at the ready I snapped this record.

Hateful People Before Breakfast

This morning, while I drove up to the 3rd floor of the car park, I witnessed a "deliberate act of hatefulness" (as opposed to a random act of kindness). A man was standing in the elevator, and a woman was trotting to catch it. She was only about 50 feet away, when the man leaned out, saw that she was trying to catch the car, got a dirty look on his face, and presses a button so that the doors immediately closed and she missed the car.

Let's all say it together "Arschloch!" (Yes, that's German for what you think it means.)

The DVDs are here, The DVDs are here!

My big fat order from Deep Discount DVD.com arrived today at work. Actually, it was a partial ship, only 8 of the 14 I ordered got here. I know it is truly a disease with me. But I figure, the average price turned out to be a little less than $10 each. According to the site, I saved over $75 at retail.

This brings my current collection to 97 DVDs. If I could wave a magic wand and have all of the DVDs on my wish list, the total would be about 170.

Today I got...

Taming of the Shrew (Liz Taylor, Richard Burton)
Hunt for Red October
Patriot Games
The Eyes of Lara Mars
Jesus of Nazareth
The Edge (Antony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin)
Harlem Nights (Eddy Murphy)
Space Camp

I should get another partial order within the next day or two, of 3 more. I can hardly wait!!!!!

Still waiting for...

Birthday Girl
Hamlet (Mel Gibson)*
Clear and Present Danger*
Consenting Adults*
Robin Hood (Kevin Costner)

* On their way

FBI Misdelivery

Today we received a package from the FBI to the FBI, and it was not even addressed to us. We got a very nervous call from Fedex wondering if we had the package. They will be here shortly to retrieve the misdelivered package. My boss and I both wished for X-ray vision.

Hot Date # 2

Hot Date # 2 consisted of Dinner (Blue Cheese, Cheese Burgers that were very yummy ummie) and a movie. The movie was wonderfully funny, and we both enjoyed it very much. However, "Hitch" is not a movie one should take a woman on a 2nd date to. K. suggested it and, said she'd heard it was very funny. I didn't know what it was about, but trusted her, so that is what we saw.

Seeing "Hitch" on a 2nd date was like asking a golfer, who is about to take his swing, "Do you inhale or exhale when you drive?" When all was said and done, she liked her card and chocolates, and we made tentative plans for a third date sometime in the future.

Sorry, that I forgot to give the Hot Date Report. It seems like I have lived a life time since Friday night.

Back home, and sicker than a dog

The kids and I got home about 2:30 this afternoon. I think this was the most pleasant time I have ever had in the presents of my ex's parents. I just keep thinking about a qoute from Shakespear. Beware not the flower, but the surpent underneath. Anyway, I was glad to have an uneventful time there.

Its a good thing to, cause I probably would have lost my religion all overthem if they hacked me off, since I feel like dried up dog poop. I have already napped some, but it is almost dinner so I will have to get moving soon. Then I can always nap again. God knows I am part cat anyway and it gets ten times worse when I am sick.

Friday Night Fun & Saturday Slummin'

Friday night is once again "Date Night!" This time we will be off to dinner and a movie. I will again remember all of the Ps and Qs my helpful readers have shared. My big dilemma is what about V-Day? I will have only been on 2 dates with her so far. Everything has been great, and we have been talking on the phone also. K. says she is enjoying my company! woot woot

However, I do not think it is appropriate for me to shower her with flowers, candy, et. al. I mean I like her and all, I just don't want to give the wrong impression. (You know the one. I certainly do not love her yet.) I am thinking, maybe a "Funny" V-Day card, and a little chocolate. I will have to give it to her on our date tomorrow. It is doubtful we will go out on the 14th. (Again, the wrong impression.)

Saturday, I will be driving the kids to their Grandparents again, for Paw Paw's B-Day party. Then a hotel stay, and drive back on Sunday. Which means present shopping tonight.

Southern Delight

This morning was filled with the usual challenging events of, crying because we don't want to go to school, and being an extra slow "slow poke", and in general making Daddy late for work. (I swear I could get him up at 2:30 am, and I would still be speeding trying to make up time so that I was not late to work.) Luckily, the only thing I forgot to do for myself was to eat breakfast, but it wasn't no thang, cause my building has a food court.

I decided that any dad that had to put up with what I had this morning deserved to be treated to whatever he wanted for breakfast. I went to the KFC, and bought a double order of Biscuits with White Gravy, and huge chunks of sausage stirred in. Now for those of my readers living in the northern regions of the country let me explain that you have not lived until you have had a double order of biscuits and Gravy! I was born and raised in Michigan, and have even lived in Minnesota. My parents moved to Kansas City when I was 17. You may say to yourself, Kansas City Missouri is not in the south. Maybe not, but it for sure is at least sitting on the top of the buckle to the Bible Belt. (There are civil war sites here, right on the river front, so I think that makes me a southerner via transplantation.) Since I had been raised on Oatmeal, I had no idea in the world what biscuits and Gravy was, and I certainly was not planning on ingesting any of it either.

Thankfully, I eventually tried them! OMG, they are the best cold weather breakfast ever! I still love a big sticky bowl of oatmeal, but I will trade it for an order of B&G anywhere, anytime. I always like to say, "I didn't know what B&G was until I was 17, and I have been making up for lost time ever sense."

By the way, it is not too incredibly difficult to look dashing, when one is wearing a black tuxedo, so don't all get your knickers in a twist ok.

I look like the guy, who looks exactly like me!

I have had numerous requests to post a picture of myself. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the free picture downloading program I signed up for was only for a limited time. I have now surpassed the alotted time, and can no longer download pictures. I am not inclined to pay for a service which I will rarely use, just so I can post my picture.

However, for those of you with great imaginations I will try to give you an idea of what I look like.

I am made in America, however, they only used German parts. At one time I had very straight blond hair, and very deep blue eyes. Now I still have the deep blue eye, but as I am nearing my 39th birthday next month, I find myself with fairly dark brown hair that is graying at the temples, and a neatly trimmed mustache and beard. (FINALLY!!! I have always wanted gray temples. Thank God I still have all my hair too.) I am 6'4" tall, and although I am no longer 190 lbs, I still can turn heads, as is evident by my recent eHarmony posts. The only celeberity I have ever been told I looked like was "The Incurable Savant" so it is doubtfull that will help any of you.

Work tomorrow

It is now apparent that the snow has stopped. This means we will not get the 8 inches promised, and I will have to go to work tomorrow. Frankly, it only seems fair that I get the day off, because they let us all go home early today. I left after my staff finished up. (I manage a mailroom so we always have to stay later than everyone else.) I got in my car at 4:20. I arrived home at 5:53. On a normal day I leave at 5:00, and arrive home not later than 5:40, and that is if traffic sucks.

For 2/3rds of the way home the needle on my speedometer never moved off the peg at Zero mph. Needless to say I had to take a nap once I got home cause it felt like I had been through the wringer. Well, such is life, and it could be worse, I could be bald too.

Leaving early due to snow

Every body but management got to leave at 3:30. Membership has it's privileges.

Indoor entertainment on the "Cheap"

We leave our regularly scheduled programming to bring you a word from our sponsors. Deep Discount DVD.com

Just thought I would share a well kept secret with all my blogging friends. You can get your favorite DVD titles for as little as $5.00. Everything from first run movies to TV shows, music videos and British TV comedy and drama, and even computer games, and console games.

This place is truly addictive. Another cool feature is that the site allows you to save your very own wish list. Which you can then email to everybody and their brother's dog, for you birthday and Christmas gifts. They will appreciate that they can get such great prices, you will usually end up with exactly what you want.

NOTE to David... Their British section is something you will want to look at, lots of BBC America stuff.

Help, the snow is falling UP!

From my windowed office, (They give a windowed offices to just about anybody don't they? Then let them think they earned it.) I can see the wonderful snow falling UP, yes up. Apparently, the wind is just right so that up here it looks like the snow is going the wrong way. Kinda makes one do a double take, if you aren't paying close attention.

Fallen Fantasies

My friend David over at Tales of a Wondering Mind shared some of the cool "Spy Stuff" with us, per my urging. As expected, it wasn't all that cool. Actually, it seemed a lot like my job, with one exception. I never have to worry about people shooting at me if they are mad. Although, that may change, since Missouri is now a "Right to Carry" state.

Most everybody I have talked to has said their companies have issues statements to the effect of, "Don't be bringin' your heat to work!" But you never know for sure. There are a lot of wacko people out there.

Weather Report

No snow yet! The weather man says, starting at noon today 2 to 4 inches. Then up to EIGHT inches by MORNING!!!! WOOT WOOT

You can take the boy out of the north, but you can't take the north out of the boy. I have not live in Northern Michigan or Northern Minnesota for 23 years and I still miss the snow. Especially at Christmas.

Think Snow, Think Snow, Think Snow

It is suppose to snow tomorrow. Let's all hope so.

Getting Kinda Scary!

While talking to K today, we discovered we both HATE JIM CAREY! Then later in the conversation, she mentioned a particular restaurant. I said, they have the BEST BLUE CHEESE CHEESEBURGERS IN TOWN. To which she replied, "I was just going to say that."

I know that eHarmony matches you on 29 different personality traits. But the same kind of cheese burgers, this is way tooooooo scary. Frankly, it is not just cheese burgers. This happens every time we talk. One of us will start a sentence an the other finishes it. (Shivers with goose bumps.)

4-year-old drives mom's car to video store

Check this out on CNN.com

I still think they should have charged the mother. Also makes me wonder what else the little tike has to do for himself.

The clock is ticking

I am still looking for a different job, since mine will eventually be going away due to non-contract renewal. The sucky thing about being in management is that there are far less of those types of jobs than for worker bees. When you factor in the field I work in, they almost become non-existent.

I am not worried yet. Maybe a better word would be highly concerned.

Details Details Details

Unfortunately, there are exactly ZERO details left to tell, honestly. She had her hand on the car door, and I was trying to make a get away so as not to pollute her with my noxious gasses. That said, even if there had been any other details, I would not share them. Following are the reasons why:

1. It is not the gentlemanly thing to do, kiss and blog that is.

2. K. (datee) does not know of my habbit, and would more than likely dissaprove of our date details being disseminated for the W.hole W.ide W.orld to read. I chose to put my life on stage, but she has not. Frankly, it is about integrity and respect. Like Dr. Phil says, "If you wouldn't do it with the other person standing over your sholder, then you shouldn't do it at all."

3. When I was new to the internet, and chat rooms, I made the mistake of giving too much information out to a person that ended up being a "Bunny Boiler", you know from Fatal Attraction fame. Anyway, I never ever gave her the impression that I was interested in her. That is of course, unless you call being polite to someone, expressing and interest. Anyway, by the time I realized she was off her rocker, I had already shared things with her, which in hindsight was OH SO STUPID. She said she didn't live in Kansas City. So I thought I was safe. I tried to keep away from her but couldn't. Then one day she messaged me and said, "Hey, I thought you said you worked at XX." I replied, "I do." She then said, "No you don't I went there."

Right there in my chair, I figuratively crapped myself. You see I did work at XX, but as a contractor, therefore, I was not on the employee directory. THANK GOD FOR THAT! Otherwise she would have shown up at my desk. I made up my mind, right then, there would be no more inforation than was needed. I also stopped going into chat rooms altogether.

It is so sad that there are people out therewho are that desperate, who've been treated so badly that they think if you treat them kindly, you are interested in them.

UPDATE: Your comments are correct. I have given many details about myself. My date, however, deserves my respect. Which means the only details I will give are those pertaining to me.

First Dates, Pasta, New Shoes & Clenched Cheeks

First I need to clear up some old business. Hottie K #2 closed the match as soon as she saw my picture. Her loss cause I am a tiger in the sack. hee hee Besides, if she is that shallow I don't want to date her either.

Now on to new business. . .

About the time it I started freshening up at work my gut started to percilate. You need to keep in mind that I have not been on a real date in 13 years, stands to reason that I am going to be a bit nervous. Frankly, I don't know why because I already knew tons of stuff about her, thanks to eHarmony.com. Just the jitters, I guess.

When I arrived at the resturant, I realized I had forgotten what a wonderful atmosphere this Cheesecake Factory has. (Very 30's ArtDeco. ArtDeco is my thing anyway, so all the better.) I didn't have to wait long and she arrived cute as a button, with now suprises. You know, like an extra 150 pounds, or 90 years older than the picture provided. The only thing different was that her hair was longer. (I like long hair anyhow.) The other good sign was that when she saw me she didn't get a look of horror, and run for the nearest exit.

We were seated and served quickly at a booth, in the upper level overlooking the atrium and enterance, which was filled with Kentya Palms. By the way, the pasta was DIVINE! We both shared our stories, and found they were remarkably simalur. Actually we talked like we had known each other for ages. It was also a little scarry to find out that we think so much alike. Even to the point that she is a Republican that doesn't vote strait ticket!! How cool is that?

Then came the simply decadent Godiva chocolate cheese cake! We shared it since we were both full from the pasta. The whole time I ate, I wished for an entire gallon of milk to wash it down, but it was soooooooooooooooooooooo worth it! (In case you all didn't know, Chocolate fixes more that duct tape does.)

By this point it was only about 7:30 so I suggested we head over to the Kemper Musuem of Modern Art, but as I said it I realized it wouldn't too great a place to talk, and said so. Luckily the Plaza, a.k.a. Kansas City's Country Club Plaza with upscale shopping, dinning, et. al. has a million places to go. K suggested we go to the big Barnes&Noble complete with cafe and big leather chairs. I agreed and we walked the three blocks to B&N and continued our getting to know each other stuff. After a while we decided to walk some on the plaza in the night air.

This is were the new shoes comes in. Point of interest, It is not a good idea to wear relatively new shoes if there is even a slight chance you will be walking later on in the date. I only have 2 words for you. BIG BLISTERS on my heels. I was having such a good time that it didn't much matter.

As we walked, we saw all of the horse drawn carriages with there huddled couples. Huddling because of love, since is wasn't cold at all. Then out of no where the pasta started working my gut. O, Oh! There was no way in hell I was ripping one on a first date! We continued to talk and walk, the whole while I clenched my cheeks, without walking funny its a learned skill. The hell of it was that when you clench pressure tends to build rappidly. Eventually, I realized there wouldn't be much I could do about it, and very soon.

I am here to tell you, THERE IS A GOD!, just at that moment an old beater car, without a muffler drove by. Instantainiously, without my earging, some preasure was released. Whew!!!!

On the way back, the stars shown above, in the crisp night air, as we once again arrived at the resturant. Neither of us really wanted to leave so we sat on the edge of the fountain in the outdoor cafe, attached to the Cheesecake Factory, and talked until it got cold. While this is all mooshy and romantic, keep in mind the afformentioned preasure is still existant, and building in intencity.

I walked her to her car. I told her I had a nice time, to which she agreed, so I asked if she wanted to do this again sometime. The answer was yes. (and the preasure is about to reach a head) She got into her car, closed the door. I was already heading to my car when she started her engine, then the dam broke, and the flood gushed. I ripped such a big one that it threw me forward 3 and a half feet, while burning a gaping hole in my drawers and trousers. But as God is my witness, I DID NOT BLOW MY HORN IN FRONT OF HER ON THE FIRST DATE!

ATTENTION DAVID: Boobie Report - She has really really nice ones, all be it they remained covered the whole time, but nice none the less.

Date Night Countdown

Below you will find a compelation of tasks required for propper date preperation. Most of the things I already would have done, and a few additions where made due to the wonderful suggestions made my "Fabulous Female Freinds" ( you too David ) all of whom are working together in an effort to hasten the possibility of my seeing Boobies! Actually, they are all trying to help an old rusty and out of practice divorced guy put his best foot forward for Hottie K #1.

Sidebar: Hottie K #2 completed the last level prior to open communication. Hopefully things will head in the right direction there, as well.

Date Day Eve:

1. Haircut
2. Press pants
3. Lay out clothes and extra toiletries. ie, sportcoat, dress shoes, black socks to match shinny black shoes, braided black leather braces (thats suspenders for the heathen reading this blog, LOL)
4. Trim beard, check for excess hair in and on ears (EEEUW), in nose, and new growth on unibrow remove as needed.

Date Day A.M.

1. Shower, who know girls like guys that bathed?
2. Close shave
3. Brush teeth, floss
4. Apply roll-on deoderant
5. Apply mouse to wet hair, then blowdry, and apply extra hold hairspray
OK, so I lied about the floss, who doesn't? Besides, I can't fool my dentist either.
6. Dress
7. Load good car with remaining date items (condums, vibrators, K-Y) JUST KIDDING GEEZE THIS IS A TOUGH ROOM!
8. Apply Cool Water, spraying into the air and walking through it. Yes, on the clothes it last longer that way. I did a trial run with it today, and my haircut lady said she could hardly smell it at 6:15.

Date Day P.M. (4:30)

1. Brush teeth, do I have to do it again? They already went from green to yellow this morning, dang.
2. Check hair, comb and re-aply hairspray as needed. (This is in my top desk drawer. I have an Elvis complex.)
3. (This on is for Tastey) Trim and clean fingernails. You mean biting them isn't good enough?
4. Wash hands, apply unscented lotion, as not to compete with cologne.
5. Change shoes
6. Leave by 5:00 to make sure you are on time. If you get their early set in the car so you don't look to over zealous.

Date UPDATE Apparently there is a need for me to say this, the following is ment to be FUNNY! If I actually acted like this I would expect to be shot! (And I am sure several of you would be lined up to do it too.)

1. When you introduce yourself, make sure not to look her in the eyes. Ogle her boobs.
2. Don't hold the door open for her, chicks don't like that shit. Wait until she opens it for herself, then walk in first.
3. When she asks what you will be having, tell her, then clairify that, This is "Dutch Treat" right? (Be sure you make air quotes when you say dutch treat.)
4. Order lots of adult beverages throughout the meal, making sure your date has had enough to lossen her up.
5. Talk about yourself often.
6. Make passes under the tableclothe whenever you get a chance.
7. If you are finished with your life story, and can think of nothing else to say, don't let the conversation lull. Tell a joke. The dirtier the better, chicks love that shit. Make sure there are many refferences to large male organs so she understands that you are more than able to please her later on in the evening.
8. After dinner wipe your hands on your pants, and blow your nose in the large white hanky the resturant so graciously provided.
9. After the waitertess has devided the check for you, make sure your date knows she is responsible for her portion of the tip.
10. As you escourt her to her car, ask if she wants to get a room close by, or give you a Hummer in her passenger seat. At least that way she won't have to pay for half of the room. You are a gentleman after all, aren't you?

Understanding Men 101 Lesson # 3

I received a joke email awhile ago entitled Men's Rules, you know the one that says they are all #1 on purpose. Anyway, I also agree with the saying that there is always some truth in sarcasim. I chose the ones that I felt fit that bill and share them with you, as well as my thoughts regarding said rule.

1. Please learn to work the seat. We need it up you need it down. What men won't tell you is, if you think we are finally listening to you and putting it down, you had better think again. Most, not all, of us will NOT lift the seat, relieve ourselves, then wipe any offending liquids off the seat with the paper on the role next to the porcilean altar. In other words, nagging your mate about the seat, means you will eventualy be sitting on his pee!

2. Crying is blackmail. It is also very manipulative. Men will only fall for this once or twice. After that, they will pretend that it makes a difference, which will only serve to propigate festering anger, like an active volcano waiting to erupt. (but you will never know when)

3. Please ask for "exactly" what you want. Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!!! Most men are very literal creatures. This means that we take in information process it, and then act based on the information we have. If you misinform us, or beat around the bush, we think that what you said is what you ment. (Because it is what you just said, Damnit!) Would you take your car to the shop and tell the machanic that you need the car on Friday, then show up on Tuesday all pissed off cause it's not done? Then when you are asked why did you tell us you needed it on Friday, you say well I do I am leaving today for New York City, and will need my car when I get there on Friday. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DO THAT, RIGHT? Wrong! You do it everytime you hint at something while communicating with your mate.

4. When you come to a man with a problem, expect his first reaction to be to try and solve it. It is a sociatal thing. Boys grow up being taugh that they need to protect their women, we only think we are doing what we are suppose to do. That said, not all men are that uncompassionate. I myself will try and be supportive and sympathetic, however because of my maleness I don't dwell on it. Hey, if it is something that is upsetting the person he loves, he thinks the most sympathetic thing he can do is to be the warrior he was trained to be and fix it for you.

5. Headaches that last 17 months are a problem, see a doctor. Sex is not a weapon! If you think that you are teaching men a lesson by witholding sex (again that is a subtle hint, see # 3) you are only making the situation far worse than it needs to be. If you don't tell us how you really feel, and punish us because we just don't get it, try telling us exactly what it is that is making you mad so that we can work together as a couple to solve the problem together.

6. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument, especialy if it is totaly out of context! Again this is another form of minipulation, used to get the upper hand rather than facing the real issues and dealing with them together. It is my opinion that woman that act this way are trying to steer away from the fact they may actually be wrong and need to change. I personally am more than willing to admit when I screw up, and will work very hard not to it again. However, why should I try if everything is always twisted to make it be my fault? Eventually, I will figure, "What the F?" and do whatever I damn well please cause I am going to get yelled at anyway? At least I will have fun beforehand, rather than being misserable doing things the way you want them done just to keep you from yelling.

7. If you think you are fat, you probably are, don't ask for our opinion. No matter what our answer is, it will be wrong. Case in point, when dearly departed ex-wife was pregnant with our first child she asked me if she looked fat. I thought I was very smart, and safe, by answering, "No you don't, you look pregnant." Which was the truth. I still got it both barrles. This also spills over into # 8.

8. If you ask a question you don't expect an answer to, you will probably get an answer you you don't want to hear. See example #7. What this will accomplish is getting the silent treatment from us, because we don't know weather or not you want an asnwer. This is called the "Self Preservation Mode."

9. You may ask us to do something, or tell us how you want it done, NOT BOTH! If you already know the best way to do something, do it yourself. When I was a teenager, I discovered there is always more than one right way to do anything. I was building a railroad tie retaining wall in my back yard, by myself. In case you didn't know, those F'n things are HEAVY! Two men have a hard time bulling them around. The whole time I am dragging these things around, cutting them, drilling holes in them, and hammering rebar into the holes, she stood on on the hillside nagging me. Mind you she was 8 months pregnant with our second child, and was holding our 3 year old on her hip the hole time. I continued to work, It took me two days, and she continued to nag. Finally, she got pissed enough that she went inside, not before both sets of neighbors came out on their decks to see what the F was going on in our back yard.

In the end the retaining wall was built, and well enough that it still stands today,(Thanks to my prior research, which she wanted no part of.) AND Both of us were mad at each other for days. Just think the next time about all of the pain, anger and heartache ( to both of you ) that will come from the nagging, and ask yourself is the well being of my relationship with this person worth it? The correct answer here is NO.

10. If we ask you what's wrong and you say nothing, that's what we will go with. (See explination # 3)

The last two need now explination at all, just deal with it.

11. Anything you pick to wear is fine, REALLY!

12. You have enough clothes, and you have way way way to many shoes.

PEE WOOOOOOOOO

I lightly applied a SMALL amount of Cool Water this morning, as a test run. I hope it disapates through out the day, cause I had to open the window of the car twice to clear the fog. It smells nice, just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to strong in the AM.

Nobody has said anything at work yet about, you stink or you smell nice. Maybe it is just because it is under my nose. No I didn't put it on my mustache and beard. Then again, I'm not suppose to like it the ladies are, right?

There is a God!

Actually, I never doubted that, but I can't believe my eyes! I got another email saying that I have another match wanting to communicate further with me. Over the last 2 days we have been going through the I'll answer your questions if you answer mine dealy. She now has only one more set of questions to answer before we go to open comm-unication. (Kinda like email) Anyway, this is the point which she chose for her picture to be made available to me. NOW I GOT 2 HOTTIES!!!!! Somebody fan me quick. I haven't had this much traffic since I wore a wedding ring.

Sidebar: Tastey Stacey, you need to do an "Understanding Women 101 Lesson" about why it is that women don't want anything to do with a man until he has a ring on? (I realize that is a huge over-generalization. Just humor me.)

Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Now what's a guy to do? Even though I have been devilishly handsome all of my life, as God is my witness, I have never had to juggle women. If you were to ask me right now if I was bragging or complaining I would have to say both. I do not intend to be a player, because that is not the kind of person I am, however, I will have to be careful since both their names start with a K. Furthermore, I will have to remember not to talk about my blogging habit on my date Friday so I don't forget and give her the address to my site, OH THE HORROR! (BTW, I think I am gloating, but it is fun as hell.)

I think I need my head checked!

I went to the bathroom and opened Ye ol' bottle of Polo (green). It smelled like vasiline! UUUUUUUUUUUUGH! I don't think it is suppose to smell like that, do you? Anyway, I figured since all of the ladies suggested cologne I had better have some. Off to the department store I drove. Then I did the most unbelievable thing I have ever done in my life. . .

I paid, $45 for a bottle of liquid (Cool Water) to make me stink like soap!!!!! If that isn't unbelievable enough for you, then try this one. I also paid $45 for a bottle of liquid (Polo) to make me stink like a leather saddle on a sweaty horse. To quote my newest friend, and partner in crime, Tastey at So on the bandwagon, "Just how many kinds o' wrong is that??!!!!!!"

As I was typing the above paragraph, I realized just why it was that I did this, and it all goes back to a post by my other newest friend, who can't be my partner in crime because he is in governmental law enforcement. {I think that means spy shit, or at least FBI, DEA, or US Marshal shit. But if he tells me he will have to kill me kinda shit.} David at Tales of a Wandering Mind. Which is, I AM DOING THIS SO THAT EVENTUALLY I WILL GET TO SEE BOOBIES!

I can hear my long time friend, who can't be my partner in crime either because he is studying to be a pastor, Steve saying, "I remember a time not too long ago when your problems were far greater, and you didn't have two nickels to rub together, much less spend that kind of money on toilet water!" and he would be absolutely correct 150 times over. (Did I get it right Steve?) To which I can only reply, as any other man with blood pumping through his groin, "But I geda see BOOBIES!"

Copy Cat from the Peanut Queen

I participated in the Peanut Queen's Q&A and am now holding up my end of the bargain. The bargain consisted of copying and pasting this and doing a little of my own answering.

Okay, fellow bloggers, here's what you need to do.....

(A) First, recommend to me:

1. a movie
2. a book
3. a musical artist, song, or album

(B) I want everyone who reads this to ask me three questions, no more, no less. Ask me anything you want. And I promise to answer truthfully, my life is an open book...

(C) Then I want you to go to your blog, copy and paste this allowing your friends to ask you anything they want!

A Retraction of Sorts for Lesson 2

Yet again, I have paid for blogging late at night, and thinking I had made my point clearly, when in fact I had not. This was made apparent when I read Understanding Women 101 Lesson One at my good friend Tastey Stacy's blog . Please link to Understanding Women 101 Lesson One, and then be sure to read my comment. This should clear the air I hope.

? for my female readers - Sorry Steve and David

I already plan to take David's advice regarding soap. (I thought that was a given, but maybe not.) However, we are meeting for dinner after work, since we both work down town, but live 30 miles from each other. I am thinking I will probably supplement the a.m. soap with some stink juice before I leave work.

From what I understand, cologne works with the wearer's body chemistry and can smell completely different from one person to the next. That being the case should I try something new on a first date since I am not sure how I may end up smelling? Ode de Pig Sty, is not what I want to end up smelling like. I normally don't wear cologne on a daily basis, but when I do, I stick with my old standby, Ralph Lauren's Polo. It works for me and has done so for more than 20 years. However, that is what concerns me, is Polo tired and warn out? When I was in school it seemed that Polo was what every guy wore, now I am not so sure.

The other factor in all of this is I have the worst nose of anyone I know. I could be standing amidst a huge pile of horse apples, while somebody rubbed it all over my body and I still wouldn't be able to smell it. So if I try something new and end up being a rankmeister, I would never know.

I also hear Nautica is good too????

Any and all thoughts regarding this subject would be appreciated. (Even from my male readership.)

UPDATE: What's with all the "use soap, brush your teeth and clean under your fingernails?" I do that kind of thing anyway, along with trimming my beard and shaving the parts that aren't bearded. (You know like my back and my butt. LOL) Might even get a hair cut. Can I assume that because all the ladies are suggesting this stuff that they have all been on dates with men who did not understand the simple fact that they needed to be clean. Go Figure!
