An Emotional Sunday

Above you will find two very special people in my family's life. This is my former Pastor and his wife (Music Director). My parents, and my brother and his family still attend this church. Today, we held them up and celebrated their 26 year ministry, as well as, their retirement.

This pastor is the pastor that preformed my pre-marriage counseling, he actually married my brother and his wife. My Mother taught two of the three of their girls in Lutheran school. I was very very Very involved in the music ministry there, and have many fond memories of those years.

This pastor can preach more meaningful and uplifting words in 10 minutes, than most pastors can in 45. The thing is, if he preached for 3 hours it would only seem like 10 minutes because everyone seems to hang on his every word. His wife, well she is one of the most talented musicians I know, who is so completely filled with God's Spirit that.... well I could go one for pages about her. To sum it up, I have seen her rehearsing a piece of choral music that she not only wrote the Spirit filled words to then wrote the music to go with it. Playing at an upright piano (choir behind her) Directing with her head, and singing the alto line at the same time without skipping a note of any of it. Not to mention, she is the only person I know that can get 3 and 4 year olds to sing in 4 part hamony! Plus the fact that she is the dearest, sweetest woman you will ever meet in your life.

With all that said, you can guess there were lots and lots of kleanexes being sent down the rows today. For both the worship service and the picnic and program of thanksgiving afterwords. I feel like I have been pulled through and emotional knot hole, and then wrung out. I wish them well in there retirement, and Godspeed! If God Blesses their lives only a tenth as much as they have blessed mine, their lives will be overflowing with His abundant riches.

Ken and Jane you are loved and you will be missed. God Bless you both and your family. Posted by Picasa

The Interview Final Score

Interviewer 1 Incurable Savant 0

Some of you already know, but for the rest of you I will report the latest on the interview news. Once again, I did not get the job I interviewed for, but I am ok with it. (More on why in a momment.) However, we are starting to getting close to crunch time. Without saying too much (duce, yeah know) I am employeed by a company who is contracted by other companies for the services it provides. Contracts usually have experation dates. Normally, contracts are renewed, as this one has been for many years. However, (and we knew this 2 years ago) that would be changing.

Because my company deals with this issue all of the time, it has practices in place to insure the employees being dispaced have somewhere to go. I have been in this industry for 17 years, and my current employer is one of the best I have seen at taking care to make sure everyone is taken care of as best they can. The reality is, the higher up the ladder you have climbed, the fewer rungs there are to stand on, on other latters. If you are at the bottom of the latter, there are lots of "Help Hold The Ladder Up" jobs, but after 17 years I am no longer at the bottom. Again, not to worry, I have watched some pretty amazing things happen that would make accountants curse like a sailor just to hang on to employees and not kick them out into the cold.

That said, I am not about to sit on my hands and play with my butthole until Armagedon arrives. Nor, will I grab at just any board floating past. I have hinted before that I have financial airbags as it were, that I am not at liberty to discuss, nor would I if I could. I will say, however, that if I find myself without employement, I will not have to worry financially. (And it does not involve welfare, thank God.) No matter how long of a dry spell I encounter, I won't have to worry about not having a home for my children and I to live in either. In that way I am very very VERY blessed. As far as I know, I am the only single parent of two young children that can say that.

So you see, I am not worried about not getting the job for the reasons stated above. More importantly, I am actually excited by the fact that I did not get it. Why you may ask..... Well, I have had more hard knocks in life, and for more years in a row than most people. In the end, God has taken care of me, and blessed me far greater ways than I ever imagined or asked for. In the last year I have interviewed for serveral of what I considered dream jobs for me. Going in and nailing the interview, only to find out later that even though I was qualified, and interviewed well, they had chosen someone else. Hmph! My point beinging, however, that God has already showered me with a multitude of his richest blessings, in the recent past. I ended up with much more than I ever dreamed of regarding my current situation. SO, if I am not getting what I consider to be the ultimate dream jobs that I am aplying for, then what on earth does He have in store for me?!!! I also know that there may be some wilderness time that I must endure, but at the end I will come out far more richly blessed than I am right now, and that is something to be excited about!

Disclaimer: I spend all day long pouring over my writing. I am actually pretty anal about being gramatically correct. Taking time to read and re-read everything until I am very happy with it. While I enjoy doing that, because I do it well, when it comes to my blog, I am a down and dirty kinda guy. This is in no way an apppology, or an excuse, for the poor grammer and spelling issues in my posts. It is, however, an explanation of the facts. Besides I didn't want all of you to sit back and say, I can see why he can't get a better job, cause he can't communicate for crap!, cause that is simply not the case. I choose to have it this way, I want my blog to be fun, not work.

Interview News

What this is going to be a short post since I don't discuss work on my blog. It went well, and as expected. Now we wait. (As you all know, without reminder, This is the part I really flippin' hate! And I did say flippin' not the other thing cause I am not saying that anymore, remember.)

Actaully, in the last 3.5 weeks, I have only dropped the F bomb once, and it was because I almost dropped my camera. When you pay as much as I did, you can say the F word, when you almost drop yours. LOL

NEWS, Good, Bad, and Informational

Ok, It has been ages since I have had an actual post. I have lots on my mind today, and happen to have a few minutes in which to get it off my chest. I will start with the bad news. Yesterday, late afternoon, a cyclist was killed infront of my parking garage down town. He was run over by a cement truck and drug for an entire block. It was far more gory so I will spare you the details. I actaully saw the covered body still wedged between two sets of double rear tires. I have prayed for both the cyclist, and the driver of the truck. What an aweful thing, I just can't stop thinking about it. I think I feel sorriest for the driver. It would just kill me to go through life carrying that burden around with me.

Ok, on to the informational news. Well, it is more like a news bulletin. Little Man, Big Sister, and I went to see the movie CARS, which opened around the country last night. IT WAS AWESOME!!! The story was heartwarming, and the techincal aspects were jaw dropping unbelievable. It looked friggin real!

In other News, and I think this can qualify for good news. I have an interview for permotion with my current employer. I am currently a supervisor/operations manager type person, and this would be a one step up and would be higher level operations managerial hooha stuff. I actually think that I will not get the specific job that I am applying for, however, I think I will get the job of a person whom they are moving to fill the new opening. I won't become stinky filthy rich, but I am sure it will involve some monitary compensation. Also, it is much closer to my home, and the kids school ect. The interview will be on Tuesday, and the posisition starts the Following Monday. Of course, I will let you all know as soon as I know anything one way or another. I certainly hope this is the time I will be able to come back and give you the news that I have actually gotten the job. Not like all the times in the past when I could not. I also hope that 3's the charm. First we had Memphis Steve, then Greekchickie, and now hopefully Incurable Savant.

I Need To Work On My Averages A Little

After an hour and a half of shooting last night, and 597 shots later, This is one of only 37 That turned out to be marginal, at best. In my diffence, I did not realize I would be taking lightning shots, OR I would have brought along my brand new fancy $400 professional tripod along. These were all hand held, using the Sports Mode, to cheat. (I don't have a Shutter Release Cord yet. That is just a fancy way to say wired remote.) Not too bad then. No More Bombs, Kidlette Cursing, A Big Headache, & Presents

I decieded almost 3 weeks ago that I was sink and tired of having such a foul mouth that I could make a sailor blush. Evidently, that is all it really took. I had been trying half heartedly for a while with no success. Once I made the choice that enough was enough, that seems to be it. I examined why I was using those words, and have head them off at the pass so much so that I am not even thinking them any more. Yippy Skippy for me.

Unfortunately, my children, who I have never sworn infront of seemed to have picked up my slack. Both of them called each other Assholes this morning. I had to say, just cause Daddy is laughing doesn't mean that it is ok to say, and that you are not in trouble.

We all had a rough night last night. (Got to bed late.) The kids were, well see above... and I had a headache all day because of not enough sleep. Still have it now at 7:30.

On to the present..... My new Manfroto Trypod and Manfroto Trigger Ball Head came from Henry's in Canada today! Woooo Hooooo I saved $90 over ordering it in the US. Now at least I LOOK Professional. How does that go, Fake it till you make it?

OK time to spend some quality time with my little foul mouthed sailors before they go to bed.
